Northstowe Badminton Queue System
Welcome to the Northstowe Badminton Queue System! This platform is designed to help players easily manage queue positions for badminton sessions, reducing the hassle of coordinating through manual updates in our WhatsApp group.
Important: Please note that this system is not used for booking badminton slots. If you wish to book a badminton session, please use the official booking page available through Badminton England.
This queue system becomes active when all paid slots are fully booked.
How It Works
The system supports two distinct queues: Droppers and Joiners.
Joiners Queue
If you want to play but couldn't secure a paid slot because all slots were taken, you can either wait for a dropper to give you their slot or, if no one has dropped a slot yet, join the Joiners Queue. Here's how it works:
Scenario 1: Join the queue
If no one has placed a drop request and you want a slot, you can join the Joiners Queue:
- Join the Joiners Queue: Simply add yourself to the queue by providing your details.
- First in Line: If you're at the top of the Joiners Queue, a dropper who wants to give up their slot will be able to offer it to you.
- Notification: Once a dropper selects you, you'll receive an email notification with the dropper's contact details to communicate and sort out payment.
- Queue Removal: After the dropper clicks the "Give Slot" button to finalize the transfer, you will automatically be removed from the Joiners Queue.
Scenario 2: Take a slot
If someone has already placed a drop request, and you're looking for a slot:
- Take Slot: You can directly take a slot from the first player in the Droppers Queue by clicking the "Take Slot" button.
- Notification: The dropper will be notified with your contact details, allowing both of you to communicate and sort out the payment.
- Queue Removal: After you've submitted your details by clicking "Take Slot," the dropper will be automatically removed from the Droppers Queue, and the slot transfer will be complete.
Droppers Queue
If you've already secured a paid slot but are unable to play, you can give up your slot by joining the Droppers Queue. Here's how it works:
Scenario 1: Join the queue
If no one is looking for a slot at the moment, you'll have to wait for someone to take your slot:
- Join the Droppers Queue: If no one is available to take your slot, you can add yourself to the droppers queue by providing your details.
- Wait for a Joiner: When someone wants a slot, they will click "take slot" from droppers queue. You will be notified when this happens.
- Notification: After you get joiners details over email, you'll communicate with them to sort out payment.
- Queue Removal: After the joiner clicks "take slot", you will automatically be removed from the Droppers Queue.
Scenario 2: Give your slot
If someone is already in the Joiners Queue looking for a slot, you can give them your slot:
- Give Slot: Simply click the "Give Slot" button to the first person in the Joiners Queue.
- Notification: The joiner will be notified via email with your contact details so that they can communicate with you and sort out payment.
- Queue Removal: After you click the "Give Slot" button, the joiner will automatically be removed from the Joiners Queue.
Key Rules
- One queue active at a time: Only one of the two queues (Droppers or Joiners) can be populated at any time. If there are joiners waiting, droppers should give their slot instead of joining the Droppers Queue, and vice versa.
- Email Notifications: Both queues rely on email notifications for slot transfers. Players are notified when it's their turn to either secure or offer a slot. Droppers are notified when a joiner takes their slot, and joiners are notified when a dropper offers them a slot.
- Responsibilities:
- Droppers:
- If you wish to drop your slot, ensure that you're ready to give it up before joining the Droppers Queue or offering it to a joiner.
- Once a joiner accepts your slot, it will be transferred, and you will be automatically removed from the Droppers Queue.
- If you change your mind and want to keep your slot, simply click 'Leave' to remove yourself from the Droppers Queue.
- Joiners:
- Make sure you're ready to play and pay for a slot before taking it from a dropper. Once you take a slot, you will be automatically removed from the Joiners Queue.
- If you no longer want to wait for a slot, simply click 'Leave' to remove yourself from the Joiners Queue.
We hope this system enhances your experience and makes session management more efficient.
